The mission of Stephen Ministries is to proclaim through word and deed the Gospel of Jesus Christ by nurturing, edifying, educating, and equipping the whole people of God who are called, gifted, and sent to be more effective servants who care for the needs of the whole person.  Stephen Ministers are specially trained to provide Christian caring to persons in a wide variety of life situations.

Prescott United Methodist Church has been a Stephen Congregation for a number of years.  We have about 40 active Stephen Ministers and usually train one or more Stephen Leaders each year.  Carol Mumford is the staff liaison for Stephen Ministry, coordinating a strong team of lay leaders, whose work greatly assists the pastors in their pastoral ministry.
