The Scouting program at Prescott United Methodist Church is part of the Discipleship Ministries Committee. It is a program for boys from 6 years of age (first grade) through 17 years. Boys in the first four years are called Cub Scouts and the emphasis is on family values and service. Cub Scouts meet weekly in dens of four to eight under adult supervision, some times with assistance from a Boy Scout who is called a Den Chief. Once a month all dens get together in a Pack Meeting. Cub Scouts advance in rank from Tiger to Wolf to Bear to Webelos. Packs 6 and 7 are currently chartered to Prescott UMC. Each Pack has a leaders committee with Chairman, Pack Master, Treasurer and ad hoc chairmen for events such a popcorn sales, Pinewood Derby, etc. Pack 6 usually does very well in the Pinewood Derby at both the District and State levels. There are 41 boys in Pack 6 and 18 boys in Pack 7.

At age eleven Webelos Cub Scouts usually bridge up to Boy Scouts and begin the advancement through Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star, Life and Eagle. At the same time Boys in Troop 7 are gaining experience in the outdoors and in leadership. Boys are organized in Patrols of three to six with a Patrol Leader and Assistant Patrol leader. As boys gain experience in leadership the roles are rotated every six months. Older boys help to train younger boys in knot tying, first aid, backpacking and other skills necessary to enjoy the outdoors and to take their place in our modern society. Troop 7 plans an overnight camp or hike every month where the scouts can earn merit badges, which are part of the advancement program. Examples are fishing, orienteering, canoeing, camp cooking. Other merit badges which can be done at special meetings are citizenship in the country, done with a lawyer, first aid done with a local nurse; and religion, done in conjunction with the boy's religious leaders.

Older Boy Scouts who are 13 and have achieved first class rank and have finished eighth grade are eligible to be part of a Venture Patrol which participates in activities such as whitewater rafting, rock climbing etc. while still advancing on the "Trail to Eagle."

Both Packs and the Troop are under the leadership of a parents committee, which is selected by the parents with the exception of the Charter Organization Representative who is selected by the Church. Troop 7 has a Chairman, Scoutmaster and three Assistant Scoutmasters. Packs 6 and 7 and Troop 7 are part of the Old Capitol District of The Grand Canyon Council, Boy Scouts of America.
