How Does Prescott United Methodist Church Describe The Congregation?
We are an active and diverse body united through Christ, where we joyously contribute our God-given talents, study scripture and grow in understanding, deepen our personal relationships with Christ and one another, and live our mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
What Can I Expect as a First-Time Guest?
OPEN HEARTS, OPEN MINDS & OPEN DOORS! Located in a central area of Prescott, just up Gurley Street from Sharlott Hall, Prescott United Methodist Church is an exciting and unique place to worship, get involved, develop a community of support, and grow as a disciple of Jesus Christ. Since we are a very friendly congregation you should expect us to greet you with smiles and a warm welcome. On your first visit, you will be encouraged to share your name and contact information so we may welcome you into our faith family.
We sincerely welcome everyone to journey with us and grow in faith with us, whether you have traveled with Jesus your whole life or you are just beginning to discover the awesome presence of God. We welcome everyone as a child of God. Come and grow with us.
What's Unique About Prescott United Methodist Church?
You are welcome just as you are! We care about you! The messages are designed to help us apply the Bible's teachings to our daily living. We encourage discussion and welcome questions as we all journey with God and mature in faith. You may laugh, cry, ponder or all three as you discover the ways in which God wants to be involved in your life and is already involved in your life.
Communion is offered the first Sunday of each month at each worship service. We have an "Open Table" communion; it's a gift from God and not from the church, where all are welcome. We invite everyone to participate. For those desiring communion each week, we also provide a short communion service on the other Sunday mornings between the regular services.
PUMC is a congregation of The United Methodist Church, a 11-million-strong global church that opens hearts, opens doors and opens minds through active engagement with our world. John Wesley and the early Methodists placed primary emphasis on Christian living, on putting faith and love into action. This emphasis on what Wesley referred to as "practical divinity" has continued to be a hallmark of United Methodism today.

Parents are encouraged to have their children join them at the beginning of each worship service. The Saturday evening and Sunday 9:00am service includes a "Children's Moment" where the children hear a special message from one of our pastors or lay leaders. Following the Children's Moment, children may either return to their parents on Saturday evenings or go to a class especially for them on Sunday morning during the 9 am worship service. There are activity books for children who would rather remain with their parents in worship, and there is a crying room equipped with a speaker adjacent to the sanctuary if adults need to remover their little ones during the service.
What do we offer for Youth?
Youth go directly to Sunday School for an indepth discussion about timely topics.
All youth are encouraged to attend worship at 10:30 am.
Youth fellowship activities vary from week to week, including a mix of activities. Check the Youth page under "FAITH" on this website.
Youth learn to put their faith into action in a variety of service projects throughout the year, and a summer mission trip that encourages their faith development in a new, unfamiliar setting.
What do we offer for Adults?
There are a wide variety of opportunities for music, education, service and fellowship throughout the week. Three Adult study groups meet on Sunday mornings, there are Bible study groups (one for men, one for women and one a mixed group) during the week. We have two vocal choirs, Saturday evening singers and band, as well as two handbell choirs. Many of our members volunteer to feed the hungry either on Saturday mornings with Granite Hunger Ministry (potluck) or during the week through Open Door, part of the Coalition for Compassion and Justice, an independent organization located on our church campus. Many of our adult members also volunteer with Prescott People Who Care and CCJ's home repair group to assist the elderly and lower economic folks in the community.
