WAITING IN ANTICIPATION

FOR CHRISTMAS

Waiting is one of the first lessons in learning patience.

There is waiting in anticipation of something exciting and wonderful or— there can be anticipation with dread.

Children wait, and know they must be patient, in anticipation of Christmas. The excitement of the “big day,” the gifts, the visits, the food, the joy!

Can you imagine the anticipation of the Wisemen  as they rode their camels across the hills of Judea, following a star and wondering—“What will we find and what will it be?”

The shepherds waited in anticipation and fear! “What in the world is going on?”

The rewards for the patience to wait are:
§
Hearing again the beautiful familiar carols.
§
Re-reading the Holy story.
§
Believing this was done for us.

The baby was the holiest gift.

Thank you, God.
